BRETT HEARN: BACK BEHIND THE WHEEL FOR THE SIX-RACE DIRTcar OCTOBERFAST
SUSSEX, NJ (October 1)…Champion dirt track Modified driver Brett Hearn, of Sussex, New Jersey, will climb back into his familiar No. 20 DIRTcar Big-Block Modified race car for the six-race DIRTcar OctoberFAST series, October 6-11 at tracks across New York state.
Having concentrated his time and energy this year as the Director of Motorsports at Middletown, New York’s Orange County Fair Speedway, Hearn has only raced seven times in the much abbreviated 2020 season. “Running Orange County is a full time job even in the best of times,” says Hearn who put his 46-year racing career on the back burner after assuming the speedway management position earlier this year. “But in the time between the end of our weekly Orange County racing season and the traditional late October Eastern States Weekend, I had always planned to compete in the Super DIRT Week races. Coronavirus restrictions forced DIRTcar to come up with alternate plans, and the six consecutive OctoberFAST races are pretty appealing.”
Hearn will drive a new 2021 Teo Fabrications Modified fielded by joint effort of his own BH Racing Enterprises and long-time backers Madsen Motorsports and 4-Star Racing. “I’m really looking forward to having the team together and getting back on the track,” says Hearn.
Hearn’s more than four decades long career began as a 16-year-old in 1975. In that span he has won a documented 919 races, the most of an American race car driver. Hearn has won at 49 different speedways in 11 states and two Canadian provinces. He has 94 track and series championships to his credit.
Following the OctoberFAST races, Hearn will resume his speedway management role as he prepares Orange County Fair Speedway for the 59th Annual Eastern States Weekend, and the Eastern States 200, the oldest late season championship race for dirt track Modifieds.
