HEARN TO ENTER GO GREEN NMX FONDA THUNDER SERIES

SUSSEX, NJ (April 3)……..Champion dirt track Modified driver Brett Hearn, 49, of Sussex, New Jersey will compete in six special race meets at the historic Fonda (New York) Speedway during the 2008 Northeast racing season. Hearn will first enter the Saturday, April 12 “Ice Jam,” a 40-lap feature race paying $4,000 to win. In following months, Hearn will return to Fonda for the five-race Go Green NMX Thunder Series, special extra-distance feature races with increased purses and a special point fund.

“We’re always looking for new challenges,” says Hearn. “We’ve had success at Fonda in the past, and we’re looking forward to this new series.” Through the 2007 racing season, Hearn has posted 29 feature victories (22 Big Block Modified and seven 358 Modified) at Fonda, the most recent last September 23 in a 100-lap event.

The Go Green NMX Fonda Thunder Series kicks off Saturday, May 24 with a 40-lap $4,000-to-win feature race. That’s followed by a second 40-lap $4,000-to-win race on Saturday, June 21, a 50-lap $5,000-to-win feature on Saturday, July 26, and a 60-lap $6,000-to-win race on Tuesday, August 5.

The final event in the series, a 100-lap feature race paying $9,500 to win, is scheduled for Sunday, September 21.

In addition to the prize money being offered, the five-race series point champion will take home an additional $4,000 bonus. A total $8,500 point fund has been posted, but this amount is expected to increase as additional sponsors commit to the series.

Hearn will be behind the wheel of his familiar Wentworth Custom Homes No. 20 for the Ice Jam race, but will drive the Smith Brothers Concrete Contractors No. 74 Modified in the Saturday Go Green MNX Thunder Series races at Fonda. During the 2007 season Hearn drove the No. 74, owned by veteran racers Steve Hastings and Joe Knoth, to six of his 29 victories, including his 100-lap win at Fonda. “We may race the No. 74 in all five Go Green events,” says Hearn, “but we’ll decide that as the season progresses.”

Hearn, with 734 career feature race victories and 69 track and series championships through 2007, is a full time professional driver whose career spans 34 seasons. Hearn’s records place him among the country’s top drivers in all forms of auto racing.
